Ok here is what im thinking of. Im thinking on buying a different intercooler. With a dual outlet. I want to run my intercooler up front and then pull my intercooler line's just like as before, but with the extra outlet i want to try to pull my air filter off useing the extra outlet on the IC And running my air from there. But will it draw to much air from the IC and not flow right to thorttle body. LoL does this even make sense????

Where would it pull outside air from? Sounds like a closed up unit the way you describe it (or at least the way I understand it) like a cooling system.

Dave, The intercooler only sees/gets air that has already been drawn in through the filter -VAM - turbo. It a closed system except at the air filter where air enters. The intercooler is sealed like firstsvo said.

Ok but when you use a front mount IC its getting air before the filter. Could you use two outlets and draw cooler air to the VAM??? or im shooting outside the bun?

Sorry Dave...does not work that way.

After the turbo compresses the air, the intercooler cools the intake charge. The better the intercooler the more power the engine makes. The physics of air compression are beyhond me. But the air charge is heated up. A good IC, really helps out, if it is a front mount so much the better.

i think i see what your getting at, but no, that wont work. if you use the intercooler to cool the charge air before its compressed, you will have a massive boost leak. see this drawing (from another site).

let me know if this is unviewable or not helpful.

So the intercooler you are thinking of getting actually has 3 ports on it (if I understand correctly)? The intercooler has to be a sealed unit, if you were to run 10 lbs. of boost (if you could keep it running) it would go right out the filter.

lol so im way of course here. but i was not going to run a air filter just i tube to turbo i tube to intake and 1 tube to vam. like takeing the second outlet and running the compressed air back to the turbo. But it my sound crazy the more i think about it the more problems i see happening..but logic of it sounds good.

What if you run 2 ics? 1 for the air in to the turbo and then 1 from the turbo to the motor? Will this work?

The air in the turbo very quickly becomes the air from the turbo to the motor. One intercooler serves the purpose.

There isn't much sense in trying to cool air coming into the system, especially if that air comes from in front of the radiator (cooler). Lets say that we did try to "inter cool" that air and lets just say it's 75*F. What are you going to cool the inter cooler with? The air to cool the inter cooler is also 75*F. Unless you are going to use a water to air inter cooler and feed ice water into the IC, you will not achieve any cooling.

It is the compressing of the air in the turbo that heats it up and makes an inter cooler useful. This is why the intercooler is placed between the compressor outlet and the intake manifold. There are many variables but for example, a properly sized IC can receive air that is well over 300*F from the turbo and cool it well below 200*.
