PE Computer....

Do you think I'll notice a difference in power from the 87 TC computer (la2 or la3) compared to the PE computer? I have the chance to pick one up and if I'll feel the difference in power I'm going to grab it, if not I'll just let it pass. What do you guys thinks? The PE is supposed to have 205 horse correct?

I wouldn't bother. The main difference in power between the 2 eec's was the turbo. It isn't a direct bolt in. You will need to do some repining. Both eec's will run out of power(point where you would need larger injectors and more control like with an eec tuner) at the same time. Save that money and put it towards an eec tuner and you can change everything in the eec.

Does anyone know how much work it would be to get the PE to work in a 87 TC? How many wires need to be repinned?

Thanks Glenn. I'm pretty sure I'm still going to pick one up even if I'm disatisfied I can get around 250 for the PE and use that towards the EEC Tuner. I just wanted to see what other people think of the PE computer to the LA3

A PE would be a good upgrade in an earlier TC
but like Gleen says, I doubt if it's worth the effort in an 87-88. I sent you an e-mail with other considerations.

Pete - Thanks but I'm getting rid of the ranger rollar because I want to run the Racer Walsh .450 lift rollar cam. So I wont be selling the PE to pick up a new RR. But I would sell the PE and use it towards an EEC Tuner or other things.

Glenn - You said the main power difference was in the Turbo but I have a T3 ready to go in, so you still think the PE isnt worth the effort?

If you have a t3 then you are probably making the same power as an 86 SVO. No, I still think it isn't worth it.

I get what you are saying. I interpreted it different the first time. I'm still going to pick it up since I'm getting a good deal on it. But if its alot of work installing I'll just try to sell it. But there IS a difference in the fuel and timing curve correct? Its not JUST the size of the turbo that makes the 15hp difference right?

Actually the 85.5 PE made 205hp and the 86 PE made 200hp. Probably a little more timing. The la3 does have a faster processor and is considered to be smoother running.

If you are going to get the eec tuner you will be adjusting all the settings anyways. If you get it cheap then resell it. I know someone that $300 for one just recently.
