How many miles on rebuild? What's the timing set at?
Have you pulled the codes and checked the fuel pressure?

Im lucky...In MA, we no longer have the dyno. So my TC is basically a safety only every year. Smile

Thanks for the reply Pete
the engine now has 700km so just under 500m (just did oil change, mobile 1 syn) the timing is at 10*adv I didn't have a check engine light on so I didn't check, but will ,have to check fuel pressure it was still stock so I didn't look at it either but will..should I get some 1 to hook a computer up or can programing be changed?

without a chip or other aftermarket mod I don't believe the computer can be reprogrammed

Like Bill said you would need aftermarket equipment to change the EEC.

On the other hand, these cars are pretty clean when things are proper. I'm far from an expert, but it sounds like you got some thing(s) to correct. I've never had a problem getting a car to pass and other than reasonably recent oil change, I have never had to resort to any tricks to pass emissions. And I mean I drive it in with high test in the tank and timing at 12-13* and 39 psi fuel pressure.

Did you get the car thoroughly warm before hand. Drive it for 30 min before the test. This is very important

A bad ECT may not set a code but can still affect A/F. I can send some testing info on it

Other tricks are cut the timing back to 7- 8* for the test.

Clean oil and filter

Iso alchol in the tank.

There are several posts on emissions. I think you need to check for codes and fuel pressure and things that would cause it to run rich

Just got mine tested Thursday and had to remove the spout to pass. For some reason the NO% was way high. That was the only area it failed. But with the spout connector out it passed with flying colors. What would cause that? I thought maybe the car was not warm enough but it was about 190 deg.

Do a search on "nox" and you will find some info. I came across it when I was researching my response, above.

I had a similar problem with my HC and CO% being to high. It was running rich because of a bad fuel pressure regulator. I would check the fuel pressure as Pete said. Here is a link to my post for reference http://natomessageboard.com/ultimatebb.p...680#000000
