I sandblasted my gutted upper and ported lower to paint them. Ford blue looked horible. So I blasted the upper that I tested the color on. I hit them with clear engine paint, this is what they look like. I think they came out real clean looking, eventho I am not done spraying them.

I think if you use engine Spraypaint it may hold up longer. Just my 2 cents.

I have clear engine paint, said it was good to 500* and has ceramic in it too. It looks greyish like it was painted with color, but I had trouble getting color to stick to it, with out rubbing right off. Thanks for the compliments [Image: biggrin.gif]

I've had great luck with the aluminum colored header paint from Dupli-Color. The clear looks awesome though, gives me some ideas on "detail" work on the upper that can be protected by the clear.

thats something ive been wanting to do for a while, bead blast and clearcoat anything aluminum under the hood, brackets, intakes, alternator casing, all that good stuff
it keeps that "fresh aluminum" look alive
