Ok guys I want to hear what you think about my swap to the holset hx30w. Do you guys think its going to hurt my Performance or help. I think its going to help but not sure when the boost is going to come in or where its going to fall off. This turbo is supposed to 47lb/min which should be good for 450hp. Just kind of worried but someones got to do it!

Which vehicle, the 1983 with the slipping clutch or the 1983 with the slipping clutch? [Image: biggrin.gif]
Without at least looking at your current and the new turbo's compressor maps it can't be predicted. How much you going to spend on a turbo that you don't know if it will do what you want, where you want it to? I'll bet it's a tidy sum of money. I'm not saying the turbo won't do it, but I wouldn't spend that kind of money until I was reasonably sure. That's to much for my blood just to have bragging rights to the latest hot topic on the boards.
Even if it is capable of doing everything you want it to, how will it do it through a slipping clutch?

I hope it works out great for you. Please keep us posted on the results. I'm actually going with a turbo that is smaller than I expected to use. Still looking for mid 12's before the dfi and other major upgrades. [Image: biggrin.gif] Of course I will need a new turbo again at that point.

On the clutch let me highly recommend talking to PNRVegas at total svo and get the Star stage 2 or 3. They work great.

Winter 2001-2002 upgrades - powerstroke intercooler(mounted full size or it won't be going in), 65mm throttle body, 42lb. injectors, custom grind roller cam, big turbo, rear suspension upgrades

I Cant believe that when I started posting about the holsets that this many people would be interested! Sheesh seems like everyone is talking about them now! I spent $300 on the turbo and the Compressor map looks very similar to the t4E 50 trim but seems to have flow more air. It shows 80% at 2.4 pressure ratio. I am still learning to read maps but looks pretty good.

80 5 is great. That's a map I would like to see. I'm looking for an upgrade to the T-3 but just won't move until I do the math.
Sounds like you got a great price. The place I was talking to is talking a whole lot more.
