So I found a very nice leak coming from around the oil Pressure sending unit.. When looking up from underneath the car there is a steady drip...drip...drip... I'm thinking I may need to pull the upper intake to get back in there, with the brake booster the EGR and everything it looks like a pretty tight spot. Last week end I did change the valve cover gasket and used the good oem ford rubber gasket. The only other thing I can think of is that I need to double check that the oil isn't coming from the valve cover. I've also been seeing strange oil pressure readings, very high when the motor is cold very low when the motor is warm. From doing a little searching this seems like the norm for an aging OPSU, so I'll be swapping that out as well.
So do I need to pull the upper or are you guys usually able to get back there and wrench around?

Normaly I grab the old unit with a pair of channel locks and twist it out. The new one doesnt need alot of torque to put it back in either. My guess though is if you have a leak it is from the valve cover or the oil supply line (if it is still the hard line). I dont think I have ever seen an oil pressure switch leak. But the symptoms about oil pressure point to the sender. with the sender out you can get a good look at the oil supply line.

Notice the notch in the extrension to clear the edge of the OP sending unit.
HA! that is funny. I thouogh I created some strange 1 purpose tools. It definatly beats ripping it appart with chanel locks from the top (never reuse them anyway).

Geez, you want me to drive up and change it for ya?
I don't remember, maybe 1/2". If you buy the new sender first, you can measure it.

Mine leaked pretty bad. Channel locks worked for me. It was a 10 minute fix start to finish and cut my oil consumption down noticably.
