Oil pressure gauge issue

Today my oil pressure gauge dropped to zero. I went to the local parts store and swapped oil pressure unit for a new one(lifetime warranty). Still no reading. So I put in a new solid state Instrument Voltage regulator(IVR) still no change. Water temp shows, but oil does not. I then grounded the wire for the oil pressure gauge, and still no change.

It has to be electrical since after grounding the connector to the oil unit,it still shows no reading. What could it be?

install a wet gauge to see for sure what the engine is doing.

If grounding the OP gauge wire doesnst peg the gauge, its either 1) failed OP dash gauge, 2) open circuit in the wire from sender to gauge, which could either be the wire itself open, bad connection at the cluster connector (not uncommon), or failed "wire" on the plastic printed circuit on the back of the cluster.

I would pull the cluster and BRIEFLY hook a 9V batt across the 2 terminals on the OP gauge on back of the cluster and see if it jumps to max. If it does, gauge is good. I gauge is good, check for continuity of wire from OP sender to cluster connector. Should be close to zero ohms. If thats good and plastic circuit board isnt damaged, it has to be the cluster connector.

I replaced my oil pressure switch with a new one from Advanced or Autozone and it didn't make a difference. My friend has a old 2.3 Mustang behind his shop so that switch got installed and it works great. They just don't make them like they did back in the day I guess.
