Oil Pressure

I have an '88 TC with a fresh engine in it. Everything is new: crank was ground, new bearings in the lower end, cam, and auxillary shaft. I installed a high volume oil pump as well. Does anyone have an educated guess as to how much oil pressure I could expect running 10W-30 oil with then engine warmed up and idling??

40-60 psi warm @2000 rpm.Mine hangs around 40 psi warm.A high volume pump wont increase your pressure.Ive heard that a high volume pump is not good for the 2.3,the stock pump is very good.Did you replace the pump shaft?those seem to break with a HV pump.

I did replace the pump shaft. My TC in a manual transmission car. Running down the highway at 60 mph, the engine runs around 2300 rpm (if I remember correctly) and has only about 33 psi of oil pressure according to the new mechanical pressure gauge. I am running an aftermarket cam and turbo. Could either of these have anything to do with the low oil pressure??

Did you put in new cam bearings. Worn cam bearings can do a lot to reduce OP.

Until somebody comes up with solid data, that statement is in error/a rumour. We have been through this topic numerous times on this site. I put in a high volume pump about 80,000 miles ago and have had no issues.....

I installed the bearing size the machinist told me he had taken the crank down to. However, I did not platigage them.

What kind of pressure are you getting at idle, at operating temperature?

At idle warmed up, oil pressure is about 22psi.
