Oil blowing everywhere!!

I took my rebuilt engine with bid valve ported head and power heads cam for a ride today. When I hit boost oil must have been just shooting from the breather because there was a trail of smoke behind me and no smoke coming from the tail pipe( I had my brother follow behind me just incase the car acted up). Anyway, went to G&J and they gave me thier best one way valve to place in the line with the PCV. Still major amounts of oil coming from breather. Mt buddy told me thgis is normal with a big valve head and boost, and that I need an oil catch can. Is this true, or is there something I am forgetting? I

Let me know what you find out on this, Chip. BTW, what time were you at G&J? I was there about 1:30 or so!

probably a very stupid question, but did you, by chance, hook the pcv valve up backward?

There is no basis for this if things are done properly. You mentioned Power Heads cam, did PH do the whole head?? Are the valve seals installed and seated in place?

I hope so. How can I tell. I took off the valve cover. So what should I look for?

Joe, I was there around 3pm. I went there to check out thier oil catch cans but the cans were way too big. Might go with the Moroso unit.

Jeff, I am going to replace it while I am at it just in case. The reason I am saying it is the breather is because it was soaked in oil and oil was all over the valve cover and dripping downward on to everything else.

Make sure all the valve seals are seated on the tops of the valve guides.

My '84 does the same thing. Under any amount of boost at all, you can smell the oil burnoff from the exhaust. I checked and it looks like the gasket is cork, in addition, the bolts are loose enough to move with your fingers. So there's two strikes against it. That valve cover gasket is at the top of my to-do list.
