with the spout disconnected and timing light connected, everything acts as it should.
With the spout in,however, when any throttle is added, there is a sporadic skip in the timing light. It does the same with the timing light clamped on the coil wire.
Please advise /inform.

Does it not run right or is it just the timing light that's skipping?

It has a random slight miss under acceleration. That is how I got to find this.

Possible failing TFI. Do you have a spare TFI, or a whole spare distributor you can try?

I do not. I came here hoping to find a recommendation before I started randomly throwing money at it. I suppose the TFI would be the best One to start with?

Also...my TFI has been relocated off of the distributor.

Installed known good working distributor with tfi. Also installed known working coil. Condition persists.
Is the ECU a possible culprit?

Could be a lot of things. Have you pulled the codes? How fresh or old is the tuneup and what brand parts used? Are the plug wires crossed in the loom? Cracks in the dist cap?

Check the harness between the TFI and the PCM for damage, and to be sure the foil like shielding is in place. Also be sure the SPOUT connector terminals are clean and the connection is tight. It is possible this is a PCM problem, but, IMO, this is unlikely.
Does the timing jump around at idle? It should.
