odd idle problems

Well, for the most part, my car idles fairly well, usually around 900- 1100 rpms, but for some reason, sometimes, the car will just start idleing and 1500 rpms. I can however fix the problem, by shutting the car off real quick, and firing it back up. and it will idle normal.

Also, ive noticed, if the car is hot after a drive, and if i stop for about five minutes to a store, or something, and get back in, it wont idle good at all, usually about 600 rpms, and it will usually stall.

Could this be a computer problem?
Because sometimes, when i shut the car off, and refire it up, it seems to run totally diffrent, sometimes good, sometimes not as good.

Never had a problem where i couldnt drive it from this condition, it just seems that sometimes, the car has more power, then other times.

Thanks,

Chris.

More often than not interminent high idle problems are due to a defective or mis adjusted throttle position sensor... You should scan the computer system for codes before changing any parts...

i meant to edit this real quick and forgot to, the only code ive pulled, is a code 22, which i believe is the barometric pressure sensor.

I corrected similar problem by blasting the IAC with carb cleaner and then setting the idle as directed. It was just covered a short time ago. Type "cleaning iac" in search. 600 rpm idle is what it should be with the IAC unplugged. I still did not check the tps (can't find my DOVM) but the idle is steady now.

I took the off the IAC and tweaked the idle three times till it settled down. I think it's running a little rich. The TPS must be the key.
