Noise From camshaft sprocket on cold starts

Hey everyone, I'm getting a high pitched squeal from the camshaft sprocket on cold starts. The noise does go away once the car has been running for a few minutes. Any idea what it could be? Replacing the timing belt is on my list of things to do but I don't think it would cause the noise. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

How long has it been happening. I agree it probably isn't the sprocket. More likely one of the 3 belt tensioners ( 1 cam, 2 accessory drive tensioners)?

It's probably been going on for about a month now. It started when the weather started to get a lot cooler (live in NJ). I do have a new timing belt tensioner; I wonder if that could be it. When I listen closely, it does sound like it's coming right from the cam sprocket though

I'm starting this thread back up as the noise described above has returned. I recently had the timing belt and tensioner replaced right before Ford Nationals and the noise has returned. It's definitely the camshaft sprocket. This time the noise starts after the car has been running for a little while. Has anyone ran into this before?

Are the cam belt guides correctly placed? (Cam gear guide on the engine side, crank gear guide between the crank gear and the accessory drive pulley) Are the guides tight or do they flop around a little? What brand timing belt and tensioner?

I would check to make sure the cam and aux shaft retaining bolts are snug. I would also be listening to the belt tensioner wheels on startup. You can position a screw driver nearby on a non- moving area andput your ear on the handle. Or better yet get an inexpensive auto motive stethoscope at parts stores or Harbor Freight. I've had one for years and find them useful.
