Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the starter circuit and solenoid coil and contact sides. I'm sure its something simple, but my alternator had a dead short and it was fixed and returned. After work last night I went to replace it thinking it would be a 5 minute fix since I was able to start it while the alternator was disconnected last week. Now I can't get it to start and I've replaced the battery since it was noisey when you shake it a little (plates) and figuring the dead short might have killed the battery life. I have a long commute so a good battery is cheap insurance. Then no start after everything was replaced. The car has power but will not crank and energize the starter. I replaced the starter solenoid and by then it was getting dark. If I briefly touch the battery connection to the starter 12V cable the starter starts to energize. My only thought is to replace the ignition switch. I'm sure I have a wiring diagram somewhere but have no idea where now, and I didn't have a meter with me since it seemed like an easy fix and it's not parked at my place. Any thought's other than tracing a wiring diagram. Guess I should jump 12v to the coil side of the solenoid and see if it starts? Any help appreciated!
