What you did is a good way to burn your car to the ground!!! Fuse links are like fuses... they are there for a reason! Would you replace a fuse with a wire?? I think not.

Did you check to see if the reg/prem switch has power? if so the circuit that feeds the speedo/tach is powered up. Have you pulled the cluster and checked / cleaned the connectors to the cluster?

Did you replace the fuse links with the same gauge wire as the rest of the circuit, or did you use a smaller diameter (larger gauge #) wire? Fuse link wire should be 2 gauges smaller than the rest of circuit.

Start tracing the circuit from the prem switch back to the fuse box.

Dont you just love wiring? Ive got a corrola sittin in my garage still cause i cant get the injectors to fire and ive went over every inch of that cars wiring lol and still cant figure it out.Stupid drift cars! Hope ur is alot easier fix then mine. Best i can say is get under that dash and just start tracking all wires and once u find where they go un hook them and test to make sure they are all good. An if all else fail u can always replace the gauges with after market ones.

It sounds like he fired the wire between his gauge cluster and fuse block as an end result from just cutting out one of his fusiable links Sad

The fusiable link should only have if I remember 2 hot wires leading from the junction block to power the whole fuse block, so if he fried one of those main wires he'd have alot more stuff out.

Wiring is fun, even more fun when you find household wiring stuff under the hood of a car Rolleyes

Ok so I guess I will try try to follow the wire from the switch back. I also have a black wire from the plug on the back of the cluster that is cut off. I looked all around behind the cluster but did not see any where it looked like it went.
I believe it was coming from 7 on the plug. Also I just cut out the fusible links and spliced them togeather just to see if that was the problem I'm going to fix them the correct way.

That black wire comes from the factory like that, don't know why nor what its used for though.

Cutting out the fusible links and splicing the wires togeather would not have been the first thing I would have done, every fusible link is made diffrent for each wire and for all you know all those fusible links you cut out could have all been good giving alot more work.

The fastest way thats going to find your problem is going to be a digital multimeter, when you trace down all your wires your going to want to test for continuity in the circuit to narrow down your problem.

So did the problem happen before or after you cut out the fusible links

Just a thought, have you checked out your ignition switch

Strange things aways going out because of that switch, my heater and blinkers would go out and to fix it I'd hit the steering columm and puff everything was fixed Rolleyes
