What do you mean by "eek sensor"?? no such thing.

Stick you head under the gas tank so you can hear the fuel pump run. Have a helper turn the key to run, and the FP will run for a second and shut off. Now have your helper crank the engine. If the FP runs, the EEC is getting a PIP signal from the Hall generator inside the dist. If the FP doesnt run, either the Hall (PIP) is dead or the wiring from the TFI to EEC is bad. BTW, your dist rotor is turning during crank, right??

Since you get a spark when turning the key off, sounds like the coil is getting 12V, and the coil is good, but use a test light to be sure it has 12V in start and run.

Connect test light from coil neg (green/red) to ground and crank. Light should flash. If it doesnt, and stays on constantly, the TFI isnt firing the coil. Either the TFI is bad, or the wiring to the TFI is bad.

Have you run KOEO codes looking for a CM code 14 (PIP intermittant failure) or code 18 IDM failure? A CM code 18 with no spark means TFI / TFI wiring problem.

The TFI (thick film ignition module) is the thing on the distributor that sticks out and has the wires connected to it.

IF it does not appear to be TFI check for power at the coil you could have a bad ignition switch

If the test light is on with the key on when the test light is connected between coil neg and ground, then we already know the coil DOES HAVE +12V!!

DO NOT throw parts at the car hoping one of the parts will fix it. Systematically troubleshoot the problem, and replace the bad part!! If your fuel pump runs, and you have power at the coil, the ig. sw. is OBVIOUSLY not the problem!!!!!

I havent seen you mention the results of a KOEO code test. Run the codes!!!

I'm not trying to be cocky, I am trying to save you a whole bunch of money and time replacing parts that are good! You didnt say you didnt know how to run codes, and didnt ask how to run codes, so I assumed you did know how, and just didnt do it yet.

Running codes is easy.... see the article on running diagnostic codes on the tech articles page. You dont need to spend $$ on a code scanner. You dont even need to spend $3 on a 12V LED form Radio Shack, you can just use a low current light bulb, like a #194, in place of the 12V LED. Read the article carefully (maybe print it out), run the KOEO codes, and let us know the results.

Whenever you have engine related problems the first thing to do is run codes. Codes MIGHT point you directly to the problem. If you dont get any trouble codes (11 system pass), you then know that the problem isnt in any of the electronics the the EEC monitors. That in itself is useful information.
