Did it feel like ignition or fuel? Fuel pump, fuel filter, clogged converter, cam belt?

Twice this happened to me-- After jumping on the throttle I lost power and thought I blew a head gasket. But no clouds of white smoke following me home. after limping it home, and a few obscenities, i found that the output hose on the ic had come loose (just slightly, but enough to leak boost). This happend once to the upper hose and once to the lower hose. Needles to say I watch not to jump on the throttle too hard until I figure out why.

The infamous TC ghost. I just went thru this with my '87. It acted just like it was starving for fuel, only under a load. Downhill it wasn't a problem. It seems to almost always be a bad connection with these things. Last weekend I replaced all the front seals & kind of tweaked some looms around and now it runs better than it ever has. No stumbling, missing or anything so I'm not touching a thing under that hood-lol.

I know what you're talkng about.. If I shifted to 4th on the highway and it was a straightaway or downhill, it would fly. 65-95 mph was like nothing. But if I did the same on any kind of uphill grade, it would pull hard for a second, then lose a bunch of power and the speedo would just creeeeeeeeeep up. Is that the same problem you experienced?

It mysteriously quit doing that a month or so ago, hopefully it continues to behave. [Image: smile.gif]

Pretty much the same thing. It would run fine going to work (which is all downhill)but going home would be a drag. It's all uphill and not just a slight grade, at the top is 4000 elevation. Anyhow, I'd have the cruise set and about halfway home it would just start losing power and I'd have to downshift to 4th till I got to the top. Now it's great, 85 all the way up.....I shouldn't talk about it.......it might hear me......
