Hi I have a boost problem. I recently had the motor and turbo changed on my coupe. It ran fine for about 2 weeks and the new turbo blew out. Finally I got mad at the shop and located my own turbo. After they put the new one on I test drove it and as soon as it spooled it sounded like metal grinding against metal and i got no boost. The turbo has no miles on it, its a fresh rebuild.I am kinda lost and dont want the shop to burn out the turbo. I do have a gills boost control vavle on it would that case the problem. I also put in an auto meter 30psi gauge to have a better reading. Can someone help me out.

After you (or they) installed the new turbo, did they "prime" it by cranking the car over for a few seconds but not leting it fire up.

Also make sure the oil feed line is unclogged, and uncracked...

"priming" the turbo is like priming a fresh engine...you supply oil the innards BEFORE it goes into operation so the bearings aren't "DRY" when it spins up...by the way...how about a little more "history" on the reason for engine and turbo replacements...what kinda boost are you pushin???how do ya drive???what kinda fuel??? hang in there!!! AND WELCOME ABOARD!!!

Do you have an oil supply line connected? If you been through 4 turbos something is drastically wrong and I would guess it's lubrication related.

the shop i brought the car to repalce the motor and the turbo due to the fact almost every gasket was dry rotted and the turbo was loading up with oil. so I had them replaced. The first turbo ran ok for a while then it blew up. I barely ever drive this car and i run premium all the time, now if the prem light doesnt come on would that cause a prob. THe other 2 turbos besides this last one all blew up in the test drive,so im kinda nervous i just got a fresh rebuilt one it sounded horrible and i know it didnt get primed on the last one if they dont get primed will they blow up.Thank you for all your help im going through a rough time right know the shop has had my car for about 5 months. theyve cost me my job already and i have 2 little kids to take car of and im only 22 so i can take all the help i can get. i drive this ca like an old lady due to the fat the cops around here know me way to well so im just kinda lost

If your shop can't tell you why the turbos keep going out, after 4, they are incompetent. Your first bet would be to get away from them fast. Next I think you need to find somebody that knows these cars to look at it. See if any of our participants are near you.

Was the oil feec line replaced? ALWAYS replace (or at least completely clean out) the feed line when replacing a turbo.
