i statrewd hearing a noise from my turbo today it sounds like a chattering when the boost kicks in it dosnt seem to affect performance iots just really loud is all it dosnt do it when i rev the engine in neutral or when im not using the boost just whne i floor it any ideas, the car is a 88 tc with the orginal ihi 183,000 miles making 15psi
88 tc, new tires and a k&n filter fender mounted

take the hose off the compressor inlet, the inlet off and wiggle the turbind shaft from side to side. See if the blades are hitting the housing.Also see if the shaft moves end to end and if the blades are hitting the back of the housing.

I'll bet you dimes to donuts that it's your exhaust manifold gasket getting ready to exit stage right. I've had the same thing happen to me a few times. Take a look and see if you can find any burn marks around the gasket. If you can, thats probably going to be your problem.

It's probably the compressor blades hitting the housing like Pete says.

With any luck, it could be something more painless, like a loose bolt or two (compressor bolts, exhaust/turbo studs, etc.)
Did you hear about the Lucas powered torpedo? It sank.
