What mods do you have done? If you still have the ihi turbo you would be quicker if you shifted lower in the rpms. The ihi just runs out of steam above around 5200rpms. I shifted mine at 5200rpms with the ihi on the car. Just my $.02.

glenn,

k&n, 17-18psi, 12*BTDC base ign. timing, 93oct pump gas...everything else is stock from the fans to the tail pipes

i ran at the track with the k&n,vam and hose in the trunk though since with the vam hooked up(even if its unplugged) i am still stuttering...i cant get over 14psi with it on

but - last night on the way home i left it off and after toying with a turbo-ricer it started stuttering with it OFF which it never did...so i dont know what to think now [Image: frown.gif]

ill definatly try shifting sooner next time(if there is a next time)...thanks [Image: smile.gif]

Considering that the EEC uses output from the VAM to determine where you are on the fuel / ignition maps, you'd probably want to consider leaving it plugged in.

I'd start by figuring what's actually causing your stuttering problem under boost. What kind of fuel pressure are you running? What brand of plugs (gap?) and wires? Is your knock sensor hooked up?

ive been trying to figure it out for two months [Image: frown.gif]

KS is disconnected

42psi base FP 47-48psi under 15-16psi boost...i check it while it was stuttering last month

motorcraft awsf32c's gapped at .030...motorcraft cap&rotor which looked new when i got it but i cleaned them anyway...not sure the brand of wires but i checked them all and i got very low resistance across all of them even when bent like a pretzel

considering it stutters and backfires and hits a wall so hard, and since it went away when i removed the VAM i figured it was fuel related or that the vam hose was collapsing

any ideas? [Image: confused.gif]

That fuel pressure does sound quite a bit low under boost. You should be seeing an additional psi of fuel pressure for every psi of boost you see. Are you still running the stock regulator?

Can you give us any sort of info about the plug wires? Do they have anything written on them? What color are they?

Have you ever tried a set of either Motorcraft stock replacement wires or Tailor high energy seem to work well. Almost anything else is a problem - sooner or later.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the dist. cap. It looked fine but it wasn't. They're cheap, just try it.

I can't see how your car ran without the vam hooked up. My car wouldn't even start with the vam not connected. I can't see how you not only started the car let alone raced it liked that. Your car definitely has some issues.

hey man i already know this...dont rub it in [Image: frown.gif]

if you removed the VAM from the turbo and leave it plugged in it wont start...as long as its unplugged and the ecu isnt getting any signal from it, it should run

the car is/was wicked with it off...now it wont even run clean with the vam off [Image: rolleyes.gif]

i guess i can try some new plugs, cap&rotor...i dunno how much ford wires cost

it only seems to do this once ive been driving the car for 5 or 10 minutes...even if i drive it for an hour and it stutters...let it sit 10 minutes...get in it and drive it would take 5 or 10 minutes before it will stutter again

ive tried turning off the ign for a minute while im rolling down the road and starting it back up but it still stutters

after a few minutes of sitting it clears up
