Hi all...just picked up a 1987 Turbo Coupe from PA. Not a bad looking car no rust on the body. I had been looking for something unique...I always liked the look of these cars. OK...it runs decent real rough on startup..took it down the street today, turbo runs @ 15lbs boost in the first couple gears seems to be cool at cruising speeds. But at idle it runs rough as sh**...I'm going to do plugs, wires, filters, etc tommorow see how it works. Any special stuff I need to know?

The tune up is a great place to start, be sure to use Motorcraft wires and Autolite 764 spark (regular, not platinum) plugs. Other wires and plugs are problematic for our cars, and that isn't a marketing technique. The only others besides Motorcraft that work well are Taylor High Energy and Magnecor wires.

Sounds like your base idle & TPS adjustment may be out. Refer to this article for information on checking this out / adjusting it.

As Pete said, Welcome! Clean out the TB and IAC and see if that cures the idle problem. Run a complete set of code tests to see if the EEC iss detecting any electrical / sensor / activator problems.
