Hi! My name is David and I had an 87 Turbo Coupe 20 years ago. Loved it, wore it out, finally donated it to a charitable organization.
Fast forward to my retirement plans (July 1st 2019) and I found a nearly identical 87 on Craigslist. My wife bought it for me as a retirement gift (project) so I'm back behind the wheel of a Turbo bird once again. This one needs some work so I'll be perusing the forums and asking for advice.
Fortunately it was garage kept and is a rust free car. Very unusual for Eastern Pennsylvania.
The exhaust system is missing from the Cat back so I'll be trying to figure out where to buy those pieces. It looks like they're long gone from the local parts stores so may need to have local "custom" exhaust shop make new ones. Is there any place that still has them?
I loved the programmable ride control but to my dismay when I got the car up on the lift I can see the left front and left rear shocks are leaking. From the little research I've done it looks like the PRC stuff is long gone so will likely have to swap in conventional shocks Sad . Any suggestions on what to buy (and where) would be greatly appreciated. I expect this to be a daily driver so not looking for high performance parts.
The only other thing I will need to address is the drivers seat. My first Bird had the cloth interior but this one is Leather and the drivers seat has a 4" split at one of the seams, otherwise the interior appears almost perfect. The car is Silver Blue (code 33) with dark blue interior. As a bonus this one has the moon roof and premium sound system that my first one was lacking.
I'm looking forward to being a contributing member.
I was at Carlisle and saw the collection of Turbo Coupes there which made me remember how much I loved that car.
I was very happy to find this group.
Thanks..
David

That sounds like an awesome retirement present, especially if it needs some work and will keep your time occupied at your own pace!

where in eastern Pennsylvania are you located? I live about a mile outside of Philadelphia myself and recently had my exhaust totally replaced by a local shop that does excellent work...expensive, but worth the cost to have it done right the first time. stinger performance also sells kits as well: https://www.stinger-performance.com/stockparts.html

as far as I know, the PRC stuff is long gone, like you mentioned...you can find some people selling them in the facebook groups and here and there on ebay, but they're big bucks. I think rock auto still sells 83-88 tbird struts and shocks (non-prc, of course). if you really want a vastly larger selection, look into using mustang stuff. for the rear shocks, mustang shocks will bolt right in, but they're like 2-3 in shorter than factory tbird shocks so you'll want to use the shock brackets I sell to get them mounted lower to get a similar travel that you'd get with tbird stuff.

a great site to browse in addition to NATO is: https://www.coolcats.net/

Thank you Andrew, I’ll check out your suggestions concerning shocks.
I live in Bethel which is a small town right along Interstate 78 about halfway between Allentown and Harrisburg.
We do have a good exhaust shop close by so assuming I can’t find anything that’s “bolt in” I’ll likely take it to them.

no problem. give this page a read on coolcats: https://www.coolcats.net/modifying/shocks_struts.html

Bethel is about 100 miles from me, a bit away..probably too far for you to want to get your exhaust done at the local shop I used. that said, make sure the shop you take the car to, if they're using their own tubing, does mandrel bending on the pipes.
