Just got the latest issue in the mail. It says "TURBO" across the cover with Manny's Red/White/Blue 7-second notch on it. They have a Crown Vic PI, a 5.0 Capri, couple of good turbo articles, and a new project car. A red 85.5 SVO. Of course they installed a whole bunch of Forced4 "stuff" on it. They threw on some Stinger oil lines too. Baselined 151HP/214TQ, removing the little airbox elbow jumped it to 157/229, and a K&N cone netted 164/238. A 87/88 TC IC got it to 167/240. They put a Gillis valve on it (WITHOUT crediting Ric) and upped the boost to 16psi and the FP to 45psi and made 181/267. Think about that, just a $40 K&N cone, a AFPR, and a Gillis netted a 30HP gain and 53 Ft/Lbs of torgue! Then they threw on one of those cheesy and expensive TB upgrades and got 186/272. Jumping up to 18 psi got them to 192/280. Not bad. Except the PULLED the engine and replaced ALL of the seals and gaskets, including a HG, installed Forced 4's gold-plated water lines and a bunch of other crap. Sheesh! I should relocate to New Jersey cause TC's never get ANY love!

Yeah and a Turbo Capri is even worse. Atleast they say "oh an svo" instead of, "dont you mean a caprice?" General population doesnt even know capris exist. But then again thats why I have two =)

Just reading this thread reminded me about "the turbo confusion"... so i pulled the engine outta my turbo coupe with a friend on sunday, and we got a pizza delivered (i wouldn't expect a pizza delivery guy to know about a turbo coupe, but) he comes out and he's looking at my car and he's like "awww a turbo" im like yeah im pulling the engine out,(and i know you've all heard this, but now i think the guy my know some) he's like "oh thats a 302 right".....ha my friend just looked at me, and im like na, its a 2.3L turbo, then he rolls and my friends like DAMN, i can't believe you even gave him a tip after that!...ha just thought it was pretty funny, i know we've all been there at some point. I'll have to get the mag tho, been meaning to get a subscription...

I get Mustang and Cougar all the time. One guy at work calls me Cougar man.
When people tell me that a 5.0 swap would be easy..I reply "yea I hear going slow is easy" That statement seems to confuse people.

I just picked this up & boy there are turbos everywhere. Seems that we were well ahead of our time. I enjoyed the article on the SVO & the $1600 seat cost to Ford from the supplier (Recaro I believe). I was dissappointed that they did not run the numbers with a different exhaust. I'm sure there would have been a bigger jump in the HP. Pick one up and read on.
