Hey at least you HAVE a garage! As a former apartment dweller whose Turbo Coupe was parked in a carport with 2 other vehicles, I can vouch for that. Kind of hard to do serious car work when you have to put everything away at the end of the day. We got our house 3 1/2 years ago, don’t know how I did without a garage before.

Some of my best early memories of that time were putting up the pegboard and hanging up the tools, finding a good workbench, getting the work area ready, etc. Best of luck, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

BTW, have you heard of a product called Pull It Out? It’s a white liquid that you pour onto oil stains on cement or concrete, wait a few minutes until it dries (it turns into a powder), then you just sweep it up. Stains are gone! (Some might need another application.) A bottle of it was waiting in our garage when we got the house. Amazing stuff.
Another proud dues-paying member.

1987 Turbo Coupe w/T5OD, 8.8 axle, grey smoke; most options. Got it in 1991 with 41K miles: 3 turbos, 2 heater cores, 3 T5OD full rebuilds, 6 clutches, 1 head gasket, 2 Teves II ABS units, etc. later....

thanks everyone! wefinally closed the lease on our old house and the last of my stuff came over this weekend. currently cant walk to much in the garage. and the tbird is covered in carboard boxes for now.
this will be exciting time in here for sure.
whats even better is my neighbor is a car guy and has a 53buick sedan on air bag. he fabbed it all himself. he has just about a full blown workshop in his garage.
now i need to clean up my garage and get enough room in there so i can work on andrewjs18 tbird so he can start enjoying it again.

That garage floor looks pretty clean and being a detached would make it easier (not easy) to acid etch and treat the concrete while you can. A friend of mine just redid his garage and the materials alone ran about 2k for the epoxy approach but came out beautiful. Just a thought.

Mine's a wreck.

When we bought our current house 31 years ago, the wife insisted on a detached garage. Her reasoning was that if I started a fire while welding, grinding, torching off old rusted bolts, etc, etc only the garage would burn down and the house would still be intact. I only started one small fire in 31 years while stick welding some 1/4" thick plate steel.... some dry leaves had blown in the garage that I didnt notice, and some stray sparks (weld splatter) started the leaves on fire. Didnt even need my fire extinguisher.... just stomped the small fire out.
