New clutch woes

New zoom kevlar clutch from napa... slips when I romp on it...

its got roughly 800 miles on it now. If you just drive it normally or even boost it hard, its usually fine. But if you romp on it hard, launch hard, shift hard, etc... it will slip like mad.

My dad thinks the clutch isnt engaging far enough. Its all new, disk, plate, throwout, pilot bearing, AND flywheel. I repeat, the flywheel is new, not resurfaced.

The clutch was assembled properly, and was broken in as well. I just wonder if by kevlar, they might have meant... teflon. It was scary when I banged the gears and nailed it and saw the tach go straight for the rev limiter, and thought wow did I just break them tires loose... only to see that the speedo was not moving similarly.

Zoom tech support said drive it for a week, even boost it, but dont let it slip. If its still slips like this in a week I am to call them back.

Any ideas? Do you think bleeding the system might help?

Bleeding the hydraulic clutch system will not help. The pressure plate is what applies the pressure to the disk to the flywheel. All the hydraulic clutch system does is disengage the PP so the clutch can disengage the flywheel. If the clutch wasn't disengaging and you were crunching shifts, then maybe bleeding would help. If you didn't remove the hyd line at the slave cylinder and it's not leaking, then there should be no reason to bleed it.

I'm wondering if they sent you the correct pressure plate. Or maybe grease or oil got on something.

If it was all properly put together with a new FW and properly broken in, no way should that be slipping for the power you are making (going by whats in your signature) Either something got dirty (grease/oil) or some parts are not correct are my guess

Well I used a good couple cans of brake cleaner in the process, so dirt and oil should not be an issue...

One thing I did notice... the pressure plate was marked VALEO. And as we all know, they make stock replacement clutches. It was painted a fancy candle apple color to make it look expensive. My dad says they modify the plate for higher performance, better springs and such. Im skeptical.
