You've got the smaller ihi turbo (only the older tbirds, svo's, and cougars came with the slightly larger t3's). In regards to upgrading your turbo, why even bother? It would be much easier (and perhaps even cheaper, when you think about it) to "simply" install a used t3 or t3/t4 hybrid turbo into your car. And why do you want to replace the wastegate? As long as it's working alright, I wouldn't even bother. And keep in mind that upgrading your turbo isn't exactly a beginner's step. Before you even start messing with the turbo, make sure your intake (k&n filter), exhaust (decent catback setup and hopefully a 3" downpipe), and fuel system (a larger pump and adjustable fp regulator are worthwhile upgrades even for otherwise stock car) are all up to par. Just be careful not to fall into the Fast & the Furious trap and think that you need some fancy turbo and "nos" (i hate that word more every time i hear it) to make power. Keep it simple and reliable, and you'll be more than happy. Good luck.
