I just got home from a nearby town and I was about 2 miles out when my overboost buzzer sounded and my check turbo light came on. My car has been using oil usually when I first start it it smokes some and when I hear the turbo kick in it smokes a little bit too. What is my problem and how can I fix it? Also I can't more than about 8 psi of boost now?

Odd.. It sounds like your valve seal/guides could be worn, also sounds like the turbo oil seals are on thier way out.

Have you checked your turbo for shaft play? I've never heard of the overboost buzzer/light coming on due to a messed up turbo.. Were you in boost when this happened? Maybe check the wastegate actuator also?

Was it raining or wet out? The overboost solenoid connector may have gotten wet. It's on the back side of the passenger side strut tower.

Is there any reason I have to have that hooked up to begin with? My car is completely stock.
