Mysterious Noise

Ok, throwing this one out for general consumption in case someone has some ideas on it.
I have had a mysterious noise for about a year now. Have tried to trace it but without success. If you are going down the road with the window open on the drivers side it sounds like it is coming out from underneath the left side of the car. It is more or less of a rattling sound but very loud and very definite. Just last week, I pulled into the driveway and the sound was very loud. This was with the clutch out. With the clutch depressed, the sound went away (aha!) The clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing and clutch fork were replaced with all new parts about a year age. The clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing is a Centerforce Stage II. The clutch fork is a Ford item. The pilot bearing was also replaced and the rear main seal was also. The flywheel was also resurfaced. As a side item, the cover on the catalytic cover is not loose or rusted either. Ok, that's about it. Anybody got any ideas on this?

No ideas anyone?

A thought is the parking brake cable. It is supposed to have a rubber/foam donut on it so that it does not rattle against the floor pan. That may be missing. Might have been knocked off during the clutch work. Just an idea.

Before I replaced my clutch a few months ago, there was a rattle similar to what you described. The flywheel had been resurfaced, but whoever cut it, took a little too much bite. As the clutch wore the noise got worse, then one day it started to slip. When we replaced the clutch, the face was far from worn out, but the springs were making contact with the flywheel, thus the slip and the noise.

make sure that your throw out bearing is level with teh fork, mien isnt it crocked os it make s very slight niose, and also i have a internal trans niose, it sounds liek a nock, but a less of the nise coudl eb what you describe.
also checl the cluthc fork cover, they tend to get loose.

if you wondering, i have ablown trans mission, blown turbo, and a greta motor til i hit 3000rpm, and she stil going, yeah! , sorry, i just feel special, lol. NOT!
