My new turbo coupe

A few days ago I posted about a TC I was looking into. I am very happy to announce that it is now sitting in my garage. I saw the car for the first time yesterday and knew right away I was going to buy it. The damage on the car was not as described to me over the phone. The owner made it out to be far worse than it was. As far as I can see the only things I need to replace are the header panel and the corner lights. The corner lights are actually together, just badly discolored. The car is maroon with maroon leather interior, all options except factory keyless, 109k, plus an aftermarket 12 disc cd changer and keyless/ alarm. The tires are like brand new, snowflakes are in great shape and the paint is near perfect. The engine compartment could use a good detail but other than that its real clean. He gave me all the service reciepts since 1989. The alternator, battery, water pump, and turbo are all less than a year old. He has run only synthetic motor oil and practically all the work has been done by the local Ford dealer. I practically stole it for $600 so I think I came out ok. The downside is the auto trans and I had thought about converting it, but after seeing how clean this car is I think I'll just get the header and lights fixed and use it as my Sunday driver. I'm sure some of you think I'm crazy to use a TC as a Sunday driver but hey, its got to be better on gas than my Explorer. What kind of mileage should I expect anyway? Beside's, in the coming months Im sure I can find a 5spd to fix up for performance. Personally I like the looks of the 84-86's with the 87-88 hood better. I'm going to have to retire my SC and go completely through it this fall. She's getting rough. I'll try to post pics and a link to my homepage soon. I think many, if not all of you will agree that this deal was a great one.

If your injectors are all running clean and you vac lines are tight, you should get around 25-28mpg I would think.

In my old Bird I had installed Tiny Avengers new injectors and I was getting near 30mpg I believe.

Congrats on the Bird. I will hopefully be an owner once again too.

I have been getting 27-28 mpg in TOWN and mid 30s hwy driving. Now that is not punching it every gear but it is punching it every once and a while.

Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.

Thanks everyone for the congrats. I located a headear panel from a member here and will hopefully have it by the weekend. I have thouroughly loved every T-bird I have ever had and feel as this will be no exception. And Dan, Selma is about 30 miles east of Raleigh. Hopefully I'll be able to get it ready for some shows. Are there any shows coming up that anyone knows of or where should I look? Thanks again for all the tips.

Corey
