Here are some pictures of my new flywheel and SPEC Clutch installed.

Also a pic of my freshly re-painted tranny before I re-installed it. I never found a tranny jack that I liked so I built my own cradle for my floor jack that worked OK.

Thanks to Scott Ressler for the SPEC Clutch ! Well packaged with P/P (Stage III), Disk (Stage II), T/O Bearing and Pilot Bearing.

Thanks to Pete for the new Fork.

Flywheel is from NAPA.

I also changed the rear main seal while I was there.

Only have 380 Miles left until it's broken in...and it's difficult to not get into it...since it was down for a while but I'll be patient [Image: rolleyes.gif]

Noticeable better shifting, however I also noticed that the clutch pedal seems much "softer".

The clutch doesn't engage until the pedal is almost fully released ? Fluid level is fine. Do you think I need to bleed the Slave Cylinder or is it just a new feel or will this change in time ?

Anyhow, I'm driving my TC again.

Now to the driver's window off the clips, the heater core (that will WAIT), the sticking HLA, the broken fuel gauge sending unit, the....... Ain't TC's fun !

I'll take some more pictures of it and post.

Pete, any ideas about the "feel" and engagement of my clutch pedal ?

Dan, as I recall that's exactly how mine felt when I first put it in: somehow "softer" than the stock clutch, and at the sme time much more stickey; it took a while to get used to it.

Sorry but I don't remember where/when it engaged.

HTH.

Dan,
If you didn't open the hydraulic system, then I doubt that has anything to do with feel or engagement point.

I can't speak to the Spec stuff specifically, but I have noticed that people with the stage II -III stuff, either Centerforce or Spec don't complaing about heavier feel. I don't know if that is due to the hydraulic system or some new technology that allows greater clamping force yet less leg work

As for engagement point, it seems that the thicker the FW the higher the engagement
point. I would suspect it will change a little as the clutch wears in and seats.

Drive and enjoy!

I installed a NAPA flywheel and SPEC Stage III and noticed no difference at all in the clutch engagement/pressure.

My friend's '94 Bronco 5.0 has a hydraulic clutch and the pedal got soft, so I checked the fluid and nothing was in the resevoir, so we refilled and bled it and it restored the pedal. Just food for thought.

Damm that Tranny looks nice Dan. I think the clutch engagement could be either the break-in of the clutch disk or the flywheel may have been cut & required shims to bring it up to spec. I thought the Napa Flywheels were Ford original ones that were resurfaced, but I could be wrong.

The Flywheel I got from AutoZone for 45 bucks was a resurfaced Ford from Standard Flywheel

Mine grabs very high also and is soft compared to the centerforce I had in it. It grabs like hell though.

FWIW...the flywheel is new not reconditioned and surfaced.

Also I gave Pete the thickness of the new one versus my old one. I forget exactly what they were now but it was only 1/32" thicker than my old one.
