Here is my TC that I've been trying to bring back from the dead. I bought it last year and have been trying to fix everything before I tear it all apart for paint. I got it from the 2nd owner who put the majority of the miles on it. He gave me a stack of paperwork for everything he's had done to the car since day 1. When I bought it, it wouldnt start. He also said the trans was out again (had been thru 3 A4LD's before he found out the cooler lines were kinked and then he just gave up fixing it again) I got it running in a matter of 30 minutes after a motorcraft tune up, plugs wires, cap (rustiest cap Ive ever seen) and a timing belt and tensioner. You cant hardly get your hand off the orig turbo keys before its running. It is also now a 5 speed using all correct 87-88 TC parts. Its been a tough journey but I enjoy the car. It is well optioned with moonroof, dual power seats, climate control, auto headlamps and auto dimming lamps, and premium sound. Its dirty in these pics but it still looks better after I buffed it. The prev owner literally waxed the paint off the car after getting waxed/buffed every other weekend since 93.
Pics are too large to post, but here's the link to my photobucket

Looks good except for the bare spots you mentioned.
Putting in the 5 speed was a good move.

ya, it will look great when its painted. My wife isnt thrilled about me drving it with our daughter (who isnt due here til Dec 16) since it doesnt have a airbag for me, and thinks it will be too hard to get a child seat in and out of. So may end up having to sell it before I get it painted.

I haul my 2 year old son everywhere. The car seat is on the pass side as it doesnt sit very well in the middle. He loves it and makes blow off valve sounds!

Looking back,I can't believe the crap me and my sister were hauled around in.Frickin AMC Gremlin,I didn't even sit in the back seat, rather it was folded down and I sat on top of it.I never even heard the word seatbelt until the the mid 80's.

Bah! I'm glad that the airbag doesn't exist in my car.
Simple logic will tell you it doesn't work.
Seat belts are all you need, and all that ever help.
Also, never has it been proven that airbags save lives, only injuries caused by airbags.

Blame the bleeding heart liberal activists that keep cramming legislation past our "representatives" to protect us, but that we wind up having to pay for.
Seat belts? Not until the late 70's. Bicycle helmets? Never! Skateboard safety equipment? Hell, my skateboard had METAL skate wheels.
I wish the heck they'd leave us alone!

Seat belts are good, and mandating their installation in cars is good, but mandating their use? Never.
I'll always wear my belt, but I want the right to be an idiot and not wear them if I want.

We made ours from old skates and a piece of wood. We called them surfskates until someone patented them and called them skateboards. Good point though. If the secular progressive liberal earth people had their way we would would be riding our skateboards instead of driving our TCs.
