Muffler help

Ok, the person who sold me my 87 had Flowmaster muffers on. My car feels like it's straining after around 5000 rpm.

Should I have a muffler shop just remove the mufflers and put straight pipes instead? I can get it done for 70. Would it be too loud? Is it worth doing? I live in California.

Or should I just wait and get the Strick9 exhaust kit? It'll cost me about 435 with muffler and cat. That'll take me about 2 months to get.

Please help, thanks!

Flow 40 or 50?

Does'nt matter anyway, especially if you have IHI turbo still.
2 flows would flow more than enough air than your engine is capable of pumping out.

Not sure which. I thought that Flowmasters weren't as good for these turbos? Either way, how would a straight pipe replacement sound?

I really don't think the change would be worth it till you can do the whole exhaust. Just wait and do it right all at once.

Ok, thanks for the help! I'll just wait for the exhaust system then.
