who all has experience with MS1 and tuning? to say i'm a tuning noob is putting it lightly and i'm going to need some pointers and such for when i get my ms and get it all wired in.. as well as, is tuner studio really that much better than the free download you can get from ms? also, is it possible to upload a tune, via email? i know my buddy can do that with his hondata.. i'm 3+ hours away from my old tuner and actually have been itching to learn how to tune for some time now, even if i can only do it well enough to get a half decent base tune. that way i'd at least be able to drive the car to have someone with vast knowledge to get it 100%
i do know a COUPLE things, like how to adjust idle with binary editor, but that's really about it.. i've already signed up on eectuning.org in the past, so i'll be frequenting there, as well.. just want to see who here has the knowledge i'm after, beings we all have a similar platform, sort of lol

From what I understand pimp is megasquirt 1 setup to be plug and play with your factory harness. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I believe stingers website says. I wouldn't worry about getting megasquirt unless I was getting the pro version.

I'm fairly certain Pimp is MS2 based, and Stinger's forums are a great resource.
TunerStudio is awesome, user friendly, and constantly being improved and updated.
You could use a decent base tune and tables, then turn on Autotune while driving to a buddy's place for fine-tuning, and probably only need to adjust your cold start and idle parameters a bit when you get there.

to be honest, i won't have the funds to buy a PiMP, my tax returns are already being spread thin with bills i have to pay and things of that nature.. The diyautotune ms1 falls right into the $500 budget i'm working with.. Plus it keeps up with my goal of building the car for 5k or less (self set goal after spending way too much on my last 2 builds, when money was more plentiful). So far i'm up to 1300, including the price of the car ($450).. It'd be a lot higher if i didn't sell the parts i pulled off and couldn't fabricate/weld

If you have the guts to build it yourself you could upgrade to the MS2 and gain more control over the motor and ignition, while still staying within your budget.

i did that last time.. was debating on doing it again, but preassembled sounds relieving lol.. plus, being a beginner with tuning, i'd like to keep it as simple as possible.. and apparently tuner studio has an autotune option, once you've laid out a base map?

$500? Isn't the PiMP about $650? Well worth the xtra $150 imho. I had a MS1 several years ago and MS2xtra is much better.
As for Tunerstudio, yes it is also worth every penny.
I would say it is better to wait until you have a bit more funds and get a much better product.

the PiMP is pnp with the stock ford harness.. i have harness issues, so i'd have to get my hands on a new 1, racking up the cost.. right now, i'm only looking at having to spend just barely over $400 shipped, because i already have the 4bar map and a tuning cable

was just poking around on stinger's forum and found a link for a free beta version of tuner studio.. so i downloaded it.. i started plugging in some of the values i know are necessary, via some of the things i've read on turboford. i feel accomplished and i haven't even ordered my MS or harness yet.. lol

ok, i've come across an issue.. I think.. On msextra's site, i found the required imputs for the tfi, but can't find anything on ts about ignition.. I downloaded the free version of ts from stinger's forum.. Apparently it's tuner studio 'lite,' if that makes a difference
