MPG question

I checked my fuel mileage on the last two tanks and I am somewhat (no pretty much) disappointed in my mileage. It is 23 miles to my office one way and it is a combination of highway (with many stops) and in city driving. I must admit that I do put my foot in it some (well probably a lot) as I like to hear the turbo spool as well as have the power. The first time I checked the mileage it was around 18 MPG and this time it was 15 MPG (I admit I drove a little more aggresively this tank full). Does this seem about right? I would have figured 20MPG around town adn maybe as high as 28-30 MPG on the interstate.

Thanks

That sounds a bit low. I'm getting around 23mpg in both cars. They both have Tripminders in them, so it is a bit easier to monitor mileage and the effects that driving styles and other conditions have on fuel efficiency.

When I first got the TC, it was getting around 17mpg or so. Then I got a code scanner and realized a bunch of sensors were bad (Temp, O2, EGR switch). Replacing those items, as well as the computer itself, brought mileage up to its current 23mpg.

Hope this helps.

I traditionally get about 15 in town, and have seen as high as 29 on the highway... with the Automatic slush box...

I get around 30mpg on the interstate, but when I'm in town and playing around with the hondas, I've gotten as low as 18. It can really make a difference how you drive it.

I get about 18-19 in town (88 TC, 5-speed) and that's with a bunch of WOT acceleration, herdly ever shifting below 3500 rpm, etc. I get about 24.5 on highway trips doing 70-75, which is very good considering the ridiculous number of hills around here. Anyone who's ever driven on I-68 in western Maryland knows what I'm talking about. [Image: smile.gif]

DrBob, be sure to scan for codes. My TC used to suck gas down due to a few bad sensors and a defective EGR valve (busted diaphragm). Especially make sure your EGR system is working, that accounted for about 1.5-3 mpg by itself.
