ive been using the famious "search feature" and i have got mixed results when talking aobut the rear c springs. How bad are they? and when they say its too low, that mean it allso sloppy? i dont want my rear end all over the place... any suggestions?

Chuck w has suggested factory mustang convertible springs for the rear....

I was wondering what the effect of using some spacers on the rear c springs would do or would it jsut sit higher and still be sloppy?

its a 84 with a little weight reduction... and wanting to do open track.

The load rating is just too plain low on the C-Kit rears for use on the TBirds/Cougars. How much too low...like 200# per spring..... I have posted load ratings before on these. the spring rates themselves are about the same, but the C-Kits are too light.

The Ford part number for the rear "C" spring is FROM an '85 Thunderbird application.

M-5300-C springs:
E4BC-5310-AA (front)
E5SC-5560-AA (rear)

E5S = 1985 Thunderbird

Yet it doesnt explain why the rear sags so bad in a thunderbird when you use those springs. The thunderbirds didnt sag that bad from the factory.

M5300-C are for the Mustang, not the Thunderbird.
M5300-D are for the Thunderbird.

We've gone rounds on the part numbers...and regardless of what the numbers say they are for....they are not suited at all for the back of a TBird.

I have been trying to get someone to dig up the numbers from the tag on one of the rear C-Kits so I can show you how light they really are.

Ok thats it... we need some hard info on spring rates... Chuck W has done a GREAT job on explaining them, now its time for us to get the raw numbers...

Im going to go and get the factory spring rates for all the popular cars that have been mentioned for possible donors for lowering springs and post them... so look foward to this soon....
