it arrived today. looking at the instructions (they are for svo's and early t/c's) it sys to splice into the yellow wire. afaik the ect is located under the upper intake between the 2 and 3 cyl but it has now yellow wire. there are also two sensors on the back (near firewall) of the lower intake, one has a yellow wire. what are the other 2 sensors and where should i be installing this darn thing.
james
btw, i have an 88 t/c with auto.

I can't find it on their site but all eCT for 2.3T I ever saw screw into the lower intake between the #2 & 3 injedtors. You hae to take the old one out first and it has an electrical connector that should just plug onto the new one.

You are talking about a 185* turn on fan controller. It is made to work with the single fan set up on SVOs and pre 87 TCs. I don't think the ECT controlled the fan on the pre 87s, I think they had a seperate sensor for fans.
I'm not sure how you would wire that into an 87-88. Are you having a fan problem with the stock fans?

the current ect is out of range according to the ecm, that and the fact they dont turn on at 230 degrees pretty much makes it so. the main fan does kick on with the a/c and is the only way to keep the car at a drivable temp right now, work is only 3 miles away. i spoke with jim at d/m and he said it would work, i just didnt think to ask about the wire deal. from you post i am guessing that both fans are controlled by the stock ect and that would explain why their are two wires. cant i just splice into the one that controls the main fan? i dont see 210 degrees being an issue if they kick in at 185, unless of course the fan fails. more inputs please. btw, did the 85.5-86 SVO also only use one fan? it would appear by reading the instruction that they had 2 wires those years as well.

If you got an ECT code then it's probably bad.
Why not replace the ECT? It also influences timing and A/F so to get the car running right it needs to be replaced.

There is a procedure for testing the fans (and by elimination, the ECT. http://www.turbotbird.com/techinfo/Cooli...ingFan.htm
Also I can send you some info for easily. testing it

The SVOs were all single fan

Get an ECT from either Ford or NAPA. THose are the only ones I trust. The cheap, no name ones some discount parts stores sell are junk.
