I know that the auto transmission computers where de-tuned 50hp. Is there any way of turning the computer in my 87tc 5-speed up??

You could get an EEC Tuner that allows you to adjust parameters in the stock computer. what kind of mods have you done to your car? An EEC tuner can be very helpful but it is may not the place to start.

Hold off on the EEC-Tuner thought for awhile.....it seems that the LA3 computer (the EEC Tuner doesn't even support the LA2's that come on the 87 TC's) might have an adaptive learning function that essentially negates any changes you make to the fuel curve over time. This can create a bit of a problem when running more boost than the stock fuel map is set up for.
I'm just about to upload a new program to my tuner and see how long thing stay rich under boost, so I'll keep you all updated.
P.S. - If it turns out that the computer does, in fact, purposely try to make things run lean despite the EEC Tuner, I'll probably be putting the TC up for sale. [Image: frown.gif]

But he doesn't have a LA2...it's an automatic. I wonder if the EEC Tuner works on the auto computer ?

Good eye, Dan (no pun intended [Image: smile.gif]).
TurboBays - do you know if you have an 8ua or an LB3 computer? Luckily for you, it looks like there are .bin and .rdt files to support tuning with either computer. Of course, the same adaptive control "problems" may be present in those computers as well. If you're still considering the EEC-Tuner, check out http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/tuner23 for more information.

Don't know if this is of any value or not, but I put a manual in my car and left the auto computer. With my mods (K&N on vam, BCV, gutted cat) I'm not having any fuel problems, and seem to be getting all the hp I could ask for.

Something has to be wrong. I've never heard of that before. With all the tuners out there you think that would have been brought up. Keep me posted and I really hope this works out for you.
