.. but not really [Image: smile.gif]

hey people.. i've been gone on family business for a while and need am finally getting around to the tbird again - 2 Questions -
1. When i hooked my coolant lines back up, i broke the mount/brace off of the dipstick tube and the tube in the process actually came out.. would zip-tying it down be an acceptable way to get around this?
2. My friend put my battery in backwards. Smoke came from the starter soelenoid. I have since replaced it and replaced the starter and the car still won't turn over. Any suggestions on this??

Thanks in advance
Mike

you may have smoked the ignition switch when your buddy hooked up your battery. the little wire on the top/middle does go directly to it

what is it, where does it go? oh well, cant be that important.

when i turn the key, it clicks like it's trying to turn over, so i doubt it's the ignition switch.

Pete? Dan? Glenn? anyone?

Did you clean off where the starter mounts to the metal? That is the ground for the starter (that's why only a power wire goes to it). I discovered this could happen after I changed my starter twice thinking I had a bad starter. Finally just cleaned the area really good before installation and it turned right over...I love that feeling.

this exact thing happened to my VW Fox. I was push starting it for about a month, and when I finaly got some coin, I bought a new starter. a week later no turn-over. So I brought the car to the place where I bought the starter. a two second peek under the car and he tells me the broblem. A rusty bracket over the connector to the starter. hacked it off, and beauty. mind you the new starter was already in and he had torn down the core already, so out my much needed (at the time) cash. so yeah, good chance you've just lost connection.

When my ignition switch died on me, the car seemed like it wanted to start, but it would just never turn over. From what I've heard, a bad ignition switch causes a wide variety of stuff to go wrong. Mine started with the power windows not working. Besides, our cars are notorious for going through stock ignition switches. Hope this helps!
