Have the car running and now taking her to paint. I have a few questions.

What is the normal rpm that the automatic should shift? Mine shifts around 3500-4000 rpm from stop.

On the freeway at 65mph the car is cruising at 3000rpm. Is that normal? I know its a 4 speed with no overdrive, but just wanted to make sure.

What kind of gas mileage should I be expecting? The bosst is stock set at 10psi max.

Couple of things....

Now I havent rocked a C3 sense 2003 so I don't remember the average shift ROMs.

65mph and 3000rpms is right....try to keep it 2800 and lower if u want any fuel economy... Its a 3 speed auto with 3.45 rear gear...just not for MPG's.

As I went faster the tranny shifted higher rpms....

Good luck,

Travis

How about 3.08's, or 2.94's?

The 86 rear gear is 7.5" posi...so any ford 7.5" will work.

The big problem is the load put on the engine with 3.08.
It will cause problems with performance and fueling...the computer wasn't designed to deal with that. It will be really slow into power, the stock BCS will have trouble...

If u have ford 7.5" 3.27...u could try those...anything else I believe would be trouble. If u need MPG...swap to a T5.
You could also use Quarterhorse and lean the car out manually??? I did abit of that couple of years ago. It helped abit 2mpg. But you need a laptop, wideband, QH, Binary Editor, Eecanalyzer, and lots of time. Probably easier to swap to a T5...no computer change necessary.

Good luck,

Travis
