Moonroof isn't working. Is it the motor?

The moonroof on my '88 wasn't working so I pulled the motor and ran a jumper wire to the brn wire that was screwed to the roof, other end to batt neg. Then ran a jumper from batt pos to the red wire hoping it would run. Nothing. Then hooked batt pos to the blue wire, nothing. My '87 wiring diagrams have different color wires listed, as does my '87 EVTM but it's all pretty straightforward. Did I do this right? I know the moonroof leaked. Maybe moisture got inside and corroded the coil? Is the motor toast?

The switch has continuity so I think it's alright. PO had rewired the moonroof as it has 2 grn wires spliced in from the switch to the motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm electrically challenged!

BTW, is it officially called a moonroof or a sunroof??

Moonroof. 9 times out of 10 when my roofs don't work, it's that stupid little board needing a re-solder.

What board?? I've got a small dash mounted switch, wiring and the motor. On my '87 diagrams it looks like the switch is in the headliner and as stated, the wiring is completely different.

If your switch is in the dash, it ain't factory and it's time to buy a new car. Have I mentioned the number of TC's that had to be junked due to really shoddy moonroof/sunroof installs? (It's 3 BTW)

My vote is aftermarket. Looks way different than the those in my two 87's.

You know what? I'm starting to think that that sunroof is a dealer intalled one. I have the EXACT same switch and sunroof. Same looking motor too. Same dome light ECT.... My switch is located directly to the right of the drivers side visor though. Mine fits good, and doesnt leak. I dont have any flexing problems with the chassis, but that may be because of the subframes. Same location on the roof too. With it placed right there, would there have to be a roof support chopped to get it in there?? My roof, (and i'm sure evintho's is the same) Retracts under the roof skin sort of like the factory one in mt 87. The sun roof in my 87 was larger though, and this one seems....narrower. front to back, its not as big. What kind of extra bracing is there on the factory moon roof cars that a non-factory car doesnt have? I would think that if none of the braces were chopped, it wouldnt really matter too much. I'll take some pics of mine tonite.
All hail Project "Marauder" !
