So we are finally getting to the point that we will start some body work. I have an 87 TC. Is there somewhere to buy new molding for the car? Is it still available from Ford? What have the rest of you all done? Thanks!

AFAIK it is no longer available. It can be very carefully removed and painted, then reapplied, if your painter is really good and they know what they are doing; that's what my guy did.

the moldings have a metal backing, if you have the moldings off i recommend taking the metal off whether the moldings are straight or not. With the backings off the moldings they will be floppy and will two sided tape will go on much nicer. I heated the metal backing up with a big old soldering iron and peeled them off, i think a pocket torch would work great also. Just heat the metal only, and use a flat tipped screwdriver to lift the metal then pull off with some pliars.
