There is an assembled unit for $240 on DIY part number ms122-c is this unit good enough to use in our cars I'm going to be using the original.plug that is on the ecc5 ECUs but I just really want to know if this unit is good for the price or is there a better unit
I'm going to be using the factory tfi

You need to understand what you are buying. That is an MS1 unit which is the original (oldest) version of MS. Furthermore, there is nothing about that unit that allows the use of the factory ecu plug/harness. It is not designed to be a plug and play ecu. Beyond that, it is only good to 21psi which gives very little room to grow with these engines. Also, our cars use EEC-4, not ecc5 type ecu's.

In closing, if you are looking for an ecu that doesn't require a new or cut up factory harness and allows you to plug it in and be ready to tune, that's nearly as far away as you can get (and the price is indicative of that).

Boosted.... I know you have been having some engine / drivability problems with your car. Before you go to ANY aftermarket / standalone engine control system, get it running 100% correctly on the stock EEC IV system. Trying to convert a badly running engine to aftermarket PCM is asking for trouble, and make sorting out any problems MUCH worse!!!!

OK as far as plug And play I know its not I'm keeping my factory harness togeather And usin the part of the ecu that the factory plug bolts to. With that I wont chop up my harness and I can use it can plug into the megasquirt I will just pin the megasquirt to accept my factory harness. Now since my car isn't running right I figured it to be a vam issue since the second I put it to the floor it pops then hesitates then goes. Plus I have a boost leak i need to find today. So I'm going to be making a cap for one side of the pipe and a valve stem in the other for a sealed and easy way to find the probably.

Was the car up to operating temp before you ran the code test. The code number is important and what part of the test gave the number

85 Sir you can get a plug and play system from Turbo Dad over at TF. But its like 1000 Bucks. But you can do the same with a multi pin connector and not use the factory plug setup. I am in the process of doing a stand alone in my LS setup and to be honest i am new at it. But i built the most modern kit and i will install it shortly. From research the stage 1 unit is only good for 21 lbs as posted on their web site. I for one would not limit myself at that number. Good luck and keep us posted. I am also going through the stand alone QUANDRY. But i think with reading and asking questions it will be all good in the end. Thanks for posting.

Well, good luck with that. From everything I've seen you post so far, you're miles over your head trying to use that ecu in your car but maybe you'll surprise me.

The advice about not converting while you car is running anything but 100% is great (and I've stated the same thing on this forum within the last month).

Your reasoning on why you think the vam is the problem makes no sense. There is nothing about that problem that screams "bad vam" any more than any other sensor issue.
