Ran across an eBay auction for a 1988 turbo coupe mach1 edition. Supposedly 1 of 500? Googled that and came across another. Links below. In each case besides stating they are a Mach1 they offer no information as to what a Mach1 is (besides a name). Any info on this as I have never heard of this before. The ebay seller did have errors in his listing stating it had a power antenna (which it doesn't) but also went as far as describing issues with the non-existent power antenna so I'm not real certain he know much. I did email hime regarding the power antenna (which he removed) and what the mach1 option was was told to run the vin and do a little research. So, here is my little research...

Yes, these were a limited run of 1988 TC's with a unique bright red paint and some Mach 1 stickers on the rear quarter glass. I don't believe there were any other differences though from any other TC's. Kinda cool in my book as a unique TC

It was simply a marketing thing, as a "Special Edition", and was tied to the color and a few decals.
Seller also claims the car is a southern car. Car spent over 20 years registered in Ohio. Didn't ever consider Ohio a southern state.

Which would also mean that rust from Northern winters could be a factor.

^^^ that assumes the car was an only car and/or daily driver. Owner could have stored it winters as many people do with their favorite cars here in the great frozen north. I live in the heart of the rust belt and my 86 Tbird 5.0 that I bought new in Feb 86 has only been driven in snow / salt once in its 35 year life. After that snow / salt episode, I hosed the car off top to bottom and put on a fresh coat of wax. Since I bought it 21 years ago, my 88 TC has never been driven on snow / salt covered roads.
