I would like to thank everybody for the help I have recieved this last year or so. There is currently a wild fire burning closer to the edge of my town in S Cal. I just returned from a trip to discover I should be evacuated and many have. If the wind picks up tomorrow I won't have a choice and then it's return when the smoke clears to see if I got lucky. This could end the 83 project overnight and this computer as well, I only have so much room in my Malibu. This begs the question: what would you take with you any why? Basically I'm taking some clean under wear and a tooth brush and assisting who ever needs help.

I'd take a set of cloths too. You could take the hard drive from the computer. Don't forget important
papers like birth certificate, car titles, home ownership papers, other ownership papers, cerdit cards, medical cards, address and phone numbers for friends, doctors and creditors. Good luck, we will keep our fingers crossed for you.

get any documents and pictures you cannot replace. anything you have on computer that is not replaceable put on disc and carry with you. if you can document anything with your camera that is not listed with the insurance company already if you have time. good luck and my prayers are with you .

Good news so far! The wind changed direction this morning, now Big Bear Ski Area is in the path but about 13 miles away. Our biggest worry is the wind changing direction again and raining ash and cinders. This sets off new fires miles from the source. What's next, another earth quake? Is California being punished for being California?

It's really wierd.. The floods, Tsunami's, drought, mass wild fires, the impending war between Isreal and Palastein,...I'm just waiting for the plague of locusts and an ark to cruise by..

Glad to hear things maybe changing for the better!

Just got the mandantory evacuation notice but have at least a 50/50 chance of getting through this with no damage. I don't think anyone here is from New Orleans, they all know the drill. If you live in Cal it's part of your neighborhood. Thanks everyone for you help and advice, looks like I'll be in a da** bedroll tonight, thought I have seen the last of them in the service.
