Replacing all the coolant hoses. Just removed the lower hose and it has a spring inside it. Got one spring out but other is not is not so easy. New gates hose does not have springs so i thought i would swap them to new hose.  Do you all think the springs are needed to prevent lower hose from collapsing?

It's a pain, but move the spring to the new hose.

^^^^ Yup!!

No spring = possible hose collapse under high RPM conditions.

I did not know it was important, but when I recently changed mine it was also a gates and had no spring.
I'll guess I'll be redraining again.
I found the hose is easy enough to slice with an exacto knife so I would just slice it end to end with a good new blade. That should make getting the spring OUT easy enough.
I know when I was picking up a flush kit I saw springs for sale for the inside of hosss as well.

yes i cut hose apart and screwed them in new hose.  screw method worked. use a pair of pliers near the end to get them in all the way.

I had not heard of swapping the speing before. When I did my hoses I read elsewhere that modern hoses don't need a spring since they are made differently?
