Ive replaced the turbo twice....tps,wires,plugs....Upon acceleration timing doesnt advance.....it retards

Car runs just fine at idle....when in nuetral and applying the gas...rps wont go over 2800....engine bogs wayyy down....it was an off an on problem a while back and eventually developed into being 24/7....waste gate is not stuck....turbo was recently replaced because i thought that was it......i dont know what more to do...any thoughts???

The timing is supposed to retard under throttle, specifically when under boost.

Have you *properly* set your base ignition timing? Have you checked your cam timing? What kinds of plugs / wires are you running? Have you checked fuel pressure?

when accelerating timing should advance....it is not....i never knew any engine that the timing retards when trying to get power out of the vehicle.

Im not getting any boost.....one of the other issues im having...it sounds like timing....it just bogs real bad when the pedel is stomped on or even pressing slower on the pedel....

You apparently misunderstood my statement...under throttle, the timing *WILL* retard from the timing at part throttle or idle. Whether this is done electronically (like on our cars from VAM and TPS input) or with a vacuum-advance setup (in more classic designs), it's all functionally the same. Our cars can run close to 40ºadvance at idle, but max out around 20º at WOT and 6000rpm.

In contrast, timing will advance slightly by rpm for a given and *maintained* load.

If you're trying to verify that your timing is advancing properly, you can't do it by revving at idle and seeing what happens. Load and rpms change to quickly and the vacuum/load aspect (which retards timing) largely supersedes the rpm aspect (which would otherwise slightly advance the timing).

Cam timing or clogged cat come to mind. Also lack of fuel. There are articles on checking cam timing and also fuel system diagnostics in the Technical Articles. Look at past post on cloged cats

Do you know to take the spout out of the distributor when setting the timing?

it sounds more like an electrical problem. if you can borrow a spare EEC i would do that. also do some diags on the TPS and VAM.
check fuel pressure. make sure your plugs are gapped correctly.
i would test the care in nuetral. because of what your saying, even without load it will not go over 2800. thats why i think its electrical like the EEC.

I would offer that you would be money ahead to learn to do some of these things yourself. We can help you with that. What we know is that there are not too many dealerships or shops that have people that know how to work on these cars. They will be glad to thow parts at it and take your money, but few if any are going to properly diagnose and fix a problem. If you have done two turbos, you could have bought a lot of tools and test instruments for that and still be money ahead. Look at the things I suggested above.
