Looking at a parts trip.

Hey All;


Lonewolf and I are looking at setting up a road trip to hit as many Junk and salvage yards as we can in the midwest. We are going to look specifically for t-bird, Cougar and SVO parts. Basically, we want to stay in southern Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, and Southern Minnesota. We think that there may be some large yards near Millwaukee, Chicago, and other large cities along the way.


So,.... Do you guys know of any large yards or possibly yards that have the cars we are looking for? We are looking for some specifically RARE parts. I'm hoping for an 87-88 FMS Ducktale myself.

Dont bother coming to the greater milwaukee area..... virtually no pick and pulls around here.... only 2 half way decent ones I know about, and they rarely, if ever have TCs or SVOs. They very rarely even have 3.8 or 5.0 83-88 Tbirds around. Most of the JYs around here are the "you stand at the counter and some guy goes back and pulls the part for you and charges you 80% of what it would cost to buy the part new" type of JYs.

Good Info Jeff. Iknow some of those places are like that. That saves us a bit of travel. Ive been to every pick-n-pull from Sauk city to Jefferson, so I've already cleaned them out of useful stuff.

here in southern nh i found a junk yard that is only fox bodies,thunderbirds, cougars and svo's from the 80s, he is a little hard to deal with but everything i need i can get from him.

Forget SE Minnesota too. There was one pick-n-pull down the road from me and they converted to exactly what Jeff K described. Stand by the counter, wait, then pay 80% of list. I don't know of any other pick-n-pulls around here anymore. Sorry.

i saw a 4-eyed TC in the u-pull yard in rosemount, walked up to it and the motor and all goodies were gone. had a cracked up FMS body kit on it though.

Forget NW illinois nothing good up there. South side of chicago is where its at they are everywhere. If you want ill get a nice list together.

YEAH! Tha would be great! South side Chicago sounds like a good prospect!
