I have no idea what it is or what it does, but what is the little thing that mounts up on the passenger fender next to what i assume is a computer. it has two vacuum lines from the turbo that go into it and a plug that goes into it. i dont know what it does or if i need it. when i bought my car, it didnt have one. i bought one from a pick apart and accidentally stepped on it. needless to say, they werent meant to hold 200lbs. haha. any input about it?

Hey, I know that towel. That's my picture, lol! Yeah, boost control solenoid. It controls boost by regulating the boost to the wastegate. I would just get an aftermarket boost controller.
Edit: Also, if you need it to get by, you can connect the line to the wastegate directly to boost for about 10 psi or connect the lines from the solenoid together with a blue butt splice for about 13-14 psi.

lol. yeah IROC, it is your picture. i was going through the parts for sale and i saw it and it reminded me that i broke the one i got from a parts yard. it was from a damn near mint condition 1987 Turbo Coupe. everything was in excellent condition. kinda broke my heart when i saw it in there, but got me happy that i could get some parts from it i nabbed my tmic from it. Also, is that a reason on why my boost gauge doesnt work?

There is a hose that runs from the vac tree to the boost gauge. It's probably either ruptured or disconnected. Good time for an aftermarket gauge since the factory gauge isn't known for accuracy anyways.
that explains so much. a few weeks ago i found a vacuum line that went through the firewall up towards the instrument cluster. it looked like it got cut in half. i couldnt figure out what it went to. solves another mystery. thank you
