Lining up shift indicator

Hi

Problem with gear selections and shift detents...

When physically in OD, the shift indicator is in the middle of N and OD. The other day I was in Park (or at least thought I was) and the car rolled backwards.

Can anyone tell me the correct way to adjust the linkages so that the detents line up with the physical gear positions in the tranny again?

Thanks!

The only correct way is to adjust the bolt on the lever at the side of the transmission. Loosen the nut on the bolt, slide the cable front or back, have someone check it, tighten it down. Obviously it easier if you have two people. If it's just a little off, you can try loosening the bolts that hold the shifter to the floor, and wiggle it forward or backward. The metal shifter surround on the shifter plate should be able to compensate for the movement.
