I want to change the lighter wiring from always on to switched on. Main reason is to use a lighter socket voltage readout/USB port charger adapter since the amp gauge was bypassed/disconnected when I did the 3g alternator and I would like to leave the adapter plugged in when the car is shut off. I see there are two wires going to the hot connection on the lighter socket... I assume due to higher current draw/amps needed when using the lighter?
Should I run two 12 gauge 20 amp switched taps from the fuse panel? Can they both run from the same tap/fuse like shown or is one 12 gauge wire sufficient?
Shows the circuit is a 20 amp, probably will never use the lighter but don't want to overload the wiring either.
