light issues..

a while back my headlights died on me, and the car would die everytime i touched the key at all,so i replaced my multi function switch and dimmer switch with new parts, and also installed a new cd player at the same time. after that the lights worked great but i had no interior dash or heater controll lights. i figured it had to be the light switch with the dimmer wheel on it, because it felt real sloppy, so i replaced it with another used one, and now i still have no dash lights, the headlights come on but no taillights? only come on when i hit the breaks or blinkers. help!

Ignition switch? They go bad alot and your car will do all sorts of funny things when they go out. Super cheap and easy to change.

The dims and break lights are two different things. You have a problem in the dim or parking light circuit. The most probable cause i a blown fuse or a bad switch. The high beam switch and light switch have the same problem as the ign switch they are overloaded and they burn out. You will have to slave relay the system out and replace all the switches and plugs with new ones. I dont recommend running the fog lights unless you slave out the system. The fog lights are the bad guys in this circuit design. They should at least be removed from the headlight circuit and be on there own circuit. Hope this helps.

well the hi/lo beam dimmer switch and the ignition switch are both only a couple months old, and i dont have any fog lights installed. fuses are all good, the dash lights stopped working when i replaced those switches, but i also installed a cd player at the same time, is it possible the radio wiring messed something up? the break lights only just stopped working when i replaced the light switch on the dash

The tail light problem could be with your brake light switch that gets pressed by the brake pedal. I had this problem on two 88 TC's and the wire was broken on both of them. I had to take both of them out and solder the wires back together and this fixed the problem. I hope this helps.

Sorry. My bad. I read Your post wrong. I see now that you have brake lights. DUH! I shouldn't be reading after working all night I guess. LOL.

well i figured out the tail light issue, turns out fuse 4 was blown, the break in the fuse was so small i must have missed it. Still no dash lights though..
